I was listening on the radio (1080 AM for those in Dallas) and they had someone in Afghanistan (sp?) who was saying that their meeting there ended with them saying that they hope the US chooses sanity.

This doesn't make very much sense to me, we are insane? Do our people give our lives to make their people die? Seems to me like they are the crazy ones. I hate to be the one to sterotype, as I'm sure some of them aren't this way, but give me a break! Their country is in a civil war and the accused terrorist happens to basically have the northern section of the country, yet we are crazy? He shouldn't have been allowed to become this powerful and get the peoples' following in the first place.

Look, when your chances in a war are nil what are you gonna do? They're just trying to put anything out there that may minimize our anger. As far as I'm concerned, if (or when) it is verified that Bin Laden is responsible for this atrocity, so is Afghanistan. And if some innocent citizens fall as well It's sad but this is war and they chose to harbor a known terrorist for years so they've made their bed and now they can lie in it.

How can they retaliate when Afghanistan doesn't exist on the map anymore.
It's not like they can hate the US any deeper.
They were passing out candies and celebrated while our peoples are dying.

I say we retaliate with both barrels! The only difference is, we will stop when the same number of innocent civilians has died there that died here yesterday.

America should unleash a conflagration of death the likes of which the world has NEVER seen.

What I should have added was that WHILE we are going after every last member of the Taliban, Osama and the rest of the bastards, if we happen to kill a bunch of civilians, ooops. We will stop when we get parity on the innocent civilians killed. But we will not cower in the corner, afraid to kill innocents, simply because we might. Seems fair to me.

It may seem "fair" to you, but innocents are just that. just because we lost so many does not make it right for us to get "parity". I agree that in the course of trying to take out the perpetrators and their hosts, we will likely affect innocents. those deaths will be unfortunate, NOT part of some punishment we are dishing out. the innocents , no matter where they are, are still humans like you and me. The perpetrators may not act like it, be there is no need for us to go down to their level. (Although, speaking of level, thats what my gut says we should do to the entire region...but thats not right either)

we are all venting, but we need to channel this energy into much more productive means.
