Do you think you would have been happy had they left a note that they'd been there. Then you call them but it's past the point that they can take it out of the delivery loop and they attempt delivery 3 times missing you every time and leave notes aggravating you more each day for 3 days. Then it automatically comes out of the delivery loop and you can go pick it up. It's happened to me on sig required deliveries before and is not fun.

I've ordered 2 laptops from Dell in the last few weeks and both of them were left on the doorstep by UPS. One $1800 and one $1500. Today my new 60GB ipod video is to be delivered by Fed Ex, think they'll leave it? I hope so!

don't you still have recourse the with CC company if it was swiped from your door while you weren't home? if dell/airborne express were unresponsive, I'm sure you could take something up with them

I ordered an $800 lens and had it shipped UPS Select 3 Day. No signature required, it was left on my doorstep at about 3pm, and I got it when I got home from work. I immediately opened the box up and started playing with it. It would have totally sucked to have to wait several more days to get it because of the signature requirement. I've never had a package get left on my doorstep then disappear - although I don't understand why it's not more common.

You know, I seem to have the opposite problem. I'd love for the UPS man to just leave the freakin' package at my door b/c I'm never home. Drives me nuts when I have to sign for something b/c that means missing work or having someone wait for me or going out of my way to pick it up.

I just have things sent to my office now.

Dudes never use Airborne... Back in 98 my dad sent me a ticket in one of their envelopes to visit him in Colorado..It was some sort of electronic ticket, but I needed whatever was in that envelope to avoid having to pay $350 at the airport. Long story short my mom ended up paying, I went to Denver told my dad what happened, we go to Airborne to see what was up, he comes walkin out with my envelope that was supposed to be on its way to me in socal... Never did find out what went wrong.. Mailing address was correct, I guess it just slipped their minds.

My neighbor reported a missing package via UPS and now they won't leave ANYTHING without a signature. I had to sign for an envelope for him once.
