Well then I guess you can put a price on unconditional love.
My poor Choco Lab was taken down during the prime of his life due to terminal liver cancer. If the doc would've said, spend $x on him and he'll have a chance, you bet your ass I would've spent it. I loved him like my son.
After 8 years with my buddy, no dollar amount would've kept me from keeping him alive.
So do I. We lost little Milo on January 31. His lifelong, inseparable companion, PJ, died the previous September. He seemed to be in perfect health, but started going downhill. It broke my heart. The vet gave him the shot and he died in my lap.
Thats like the worst feeling to ever experience. The dog I have is a huskie\pitbull mix and its my first dog and I know I screwed up in training him properly but the important thing to me is that he is a loving dog and he will NEVER bite a person. He is stubbon and doesnt listen very well unless your giving him a walk or say the 2 important words "Let's go". I dont know what I would do without him. I would definitely be depressed and miserable. I'm sorry man.
One thing that does annoy me though is that some people do not understand that a dog DOES have a soul. Some people treat dogs like their moving objects. Yes you can replace a dog, but you cant replace the soul inside a dog.

It's tough when a dog loses another dog. They essentially give up the will to live. It's pretty sad. At least all dogs go to heaven.
My wife, who never had a dog before, recently gave a few grapes to our 7 pound dog. He was sick as hell for three days and the vet had no idea what was wrong. We mentioned the grapes to her and she didn't have anything to say.
Glad to have this info. I'll pass it on to the wife.
Look. I like dogs. I like cats. I've had and have both. But that statement is just so rediculous that it's beyond words. Ever lose a parent? a spouse? a child?
