Sometimes I wonder how I haven't crashed already...thank God...

*knocking on wood*

Well, I was in the downtown L.A. area at night with some friends, and we were supposed to go to Staples Center for a Kings game, and I missed the street I was supposed to turn into for the parking lot...

So I made a U-Turn and headed back toward the street and was going roughly 65-70 mph when I decided that I could turn into a 90 degree left turn. Granted, I made the turn very wide.

My tires start squealing, and I move into a serious powerslide, heading straight into the sidewalk sideways.

I didn't want to 'pull' the steering wheel hard at all, because I know what happens when you do that during a heavy slide.

So I barely pulled the steering wheel a little further left, and then quickly to the right.

Luckily, I didn't hit anything.

We got out and looked at the skid marks.

My 2 right tires were EIGHT INCHES from the curb.

I know that I'm an idiot...

I have to be extra thankful for AWD. I would tend to think that in a RWD car, I was in the sidewalk for sure. Then again, if I entered the turn 0.1 seconds late, I would have been in the sidewalk anyway.

Just be careful out there guys.

We're not invincible.

Except for Andy Pandy.

Just kidding =)

p.s. - Andy, loved that teddy bear

so you hit the turn going 65-70? yea, that'll defintely create some drifting...but you know that now

Also, did you left off the gas when in the slide?

Remind me not to get in your way before a Kings game.

That's exactly why everyone should be pretty familiar with drifiting techniques. You didn't do anything you weren't supposed to, and the car took care of the rest. Perfect example of good driving taking over a bad situation.

Good thing nothing happened to the car.

I'm surprised you didn't get a ticket. There are a ton of cops out around the Staples Center area. I always see a few when I go there for Laker games.
