Sorry for reviving this from the dead, but I have decided to take a trip to Amsterdam and need to know about the ages for stuff. I'm 17, and I was 16 when I went to Spain. In Spain you had to be 16 to drink but 18 to smoke tobacco. People in hookah bars didn't really care if you were underaged, and you could buy cigarettes from machines anyways. In Amsterdam I'm not really worried about drinking, but will I be able to buy anything with THC in it, or shrooms? Thanks

Smoking tolerance level [1= very illegal 5=virtually legal]: 5
Legislation: For anyone over the age of 18, hashish and marijuana are free, legl and available. You can buy a daily maximum of 5 gram hash or weed in municipality-controlled

Which reminds me, I also tried a couple different kinds of shrooms while I was out there. They have a nice selection, including some kinds that I haven't seen here in the USA before (well at least not in California). One kind that I tried was the Hawaiians. Those were very nice -- clean come up and come down, awesome visuals, and no nausea (one of my main problems with shrooms). You can just walk into "smart shops" and buy shrooms; they have them boxed up with dosage instructions. These are fresh shrooms also, not the dry stuff usually sold by street dealers. I also saw one smart shop that was selling fresh peyote cacti (didn't try it though). Note, though, that shrooms should be purchased early. Coffeeshops are usually open late, but smart shops tend to close relatively early.

Do you remember any strains?
There were about 4-6 other varieties, but of those, I only recall the Mexicans and the Philosopher's Stones. The Mexicans looked like your typical shrooms (pretty similar to the Thai) but the Philosopher's Stones looked different (I think they're actually truffles rather than mushrooms).
^ Also, I don't think all of these had psilocybin as the active ingredient. I'm pretty sure the Mexicans were labeled as "psilocybin cubensis" which explains why they look just like the ones in the USA. Some of the others had "psilocybin" in the name, but some of them didn't, which is probably why the effect was noticably different than what I'm used to.
