Another Dog Thread
Ok so I've been contemplating getting a dog, and Ive done various tests and surveys and all that bullshit. I kept getting the Doberman Pinscher and German Shepherd as the top two scorers everytime. So I did some investigating and found great things about both dogs. So now im torn, I dont know which would be best. At first I was pretty much set on the Doberman, now im leaning towards the German Shepherd, one reason bieng that it looks less agressive and is a little less agressive. I have many people that come over and so forth, and i wanna feel comfortable to leave the dog alone with them without anything going wrong. Any suggestions or advice as what would be the "right" choice?
Thanks

Yellow Lab huh? They get pretty big, and I've heard that you have to be careful with their diets as they have a tendency to over eat. Great looking dog though, my uncle (whos a vet) had one a loooonnngg time ago, one of the most friendly dogs I ever met.
They do shed quite a bit...mine was very, very shy around new people, esp. men. Others are very friendly...it's luck of the draw, I think.
I adopted her and she was already trained, but they are very smart and I'm sure it would be easy to train it.

pinscher > german shepard.
If you don't have the time to invest into a pinscher, however, i would say go with the german shepard, if those are your only two choices. Pinschers are A LOT of work to get a grips on, and require a lot of attention to keep them happy / healthy. Plus, hunting for one with a good background can be difficult.
Shedding...nothing much you can do but to brush often / daily, and just be prepared for when the seasons change.
