My dog Whiskey did stink BAD before. It wasn't right. I took her to the vet and she had an anal gland infection. She got them infected so many times (that was the only time she stunk), that the vet finally removed the anal glands. Now she's stink free.
We'll for sure have to go together guys. We can make a meet out of it.

Didnt the dog growl or after a while runaway from the bottle when he saw it?

Kyras how big does a GS get at 12 weeks? How long til full growth?

Lol...any excuse for a meet eh? Anytime Daman!

btw...I think the general rule of thumb is most large dogs get to full height and length around 12 months old.....then they "fill out" and reach their full adult weight around 18months.

I really have a good time at meets. Tell me we dont?!

I've heard its good to feed large breeds food with less nutrients, so that they grow slower and have less joint and orthopedic issues.

No you're right...we do have good times!

Strictly speaking, you should be feeding your puppy on special puppy food for the first 12 months. You're right, it is different to regular dog food so that the puppy develops at the correct weight.

I have trouble keeping the puppy away from the older dogs food!!

They may not "stink" to you, but ALL dogs have the "doggy smell" no matter what. That's the stink I was referring to.

When we got Rogue he was 7 1/2 weeks old and 10 lbs. When I took him to the vet at 11 1/2 weeks old, for more shots, he was 21.4 lbs. The two adults I have are fairly small for German Shepherds, and both are in the 80 lb range, the male at the higher end and the female at the lower end. They can be 100 lbs or more but I think they are usually in the 80 to 90 lb range, full grown. The last 3 GSs we had didn't look "done cooked" until 2 years old. Like someone else said, they are about the full grown size earlier, but they still fill out their muscles and look "done" later.

I feed Rogue "Nutro Large Breed Puppy" food. I've also heard you don't want your big dogs to grow too fast because it can cause them to have problems if they do, like hip displasia.

So when are we going to see the pups at the breeder? I told the wife about it and she asked if we'd be coming back home for a playmate for Shaam.

I think I may be ready to add another GSD to the "stable".

Hey Luder the breeders website is www.shewana.com. For those of you that already own GSD's check it out and give us some feedback. To me it looks like a great place to buy a dog. But they charge anywhere from $850-2000! How much did you guys pay? Urmil you think they'll give us a GB price 1000 for both! The breeder is located just south of the Wisconsin border, in Harvard IL.

I thought I TOLD you to ADOPT?

Good God, $800-2000? I thought purebred GS would be much cheaper since they are so plentiful. Get one for around 400-500. Better yet, ADOPT!!!!

Here you go: http://www.petfinder.org Have fun!!!
