Daman,
take a look at this website:
GSD BREEDERS
Look at the IL listings - there's some in Hoffman Estates, Skokie, St. Charles, Chicago, McHenry etc etc.
Maybe we could visit a few!

Thanks Lee, I just sent a few emails asking for addresses, this sunday we should make a list of places to hit up and just bust em all out in one day. Then make a decision as where to go. Taking price, pedigree, and all that crap into consideration
yeah..you should visit a few breeders to see what the pups look like. Remember, you want specific coloring which the first one might not have. Besides, some pups may have come from small parents, some from large parents. Its best to get a concensus. Even if you arent ready to buy straight away, its good to visit these places and get a feel for where you want to purchase your pup from.
you have to remember, you want to be sure that you are getting the best pup for your money (health wise too), as this is a near 10 year commitment!
another thing....any breeder that doesnt offer a money back guarantee on the basis that you get the pup health checked isnt worth bothering with. ALWAYS, take your pup to a vet as soon as you get it and check for signs of problems - blindness/deafness/heart/breathing/hips etc.
Im getting excited for you! Thought of any names yet?

I was thinkin Leo. I'm really confused about the name.
I'll take him over to my uncles clinic right away.
What are good ways to socialize dogs? I'll probably bring him along to Urmils BBQ's, and any other place i can take him.
Leo is a great name....plus you are 2/3 of the way towards the best name there is anyway
(you figure it out!)
anyway, the best way to socialize a dog is to get him around other dogs. My older dog Max, wasnt socialized at all, to people or dogs, and you can tell this when people come to the house. He is wary...stands and watches, and protective of his territory. On the flip, the younger one Jake, was socialized from the beginning. He is more approachable and more willing to be around people. Not that there is anything wrong with either approach, just very noticeable.
Maybe when you get your pup and he is old enough to be around other dogs (16 weeks I think), we will all have to have a dog meet - Ill bring mine, Urmil can bring Shaam, Pinyo can bring Tiny - and any other dog owners out there in the Chi-town burbs!

just found a pic of my two boys...

Please, oh please, teach Jake to not sit like that. I care for his well-being and wish for him to live a very long and healthful life without any lung problems.
