Default Another reason NOT to shop at Wal Mart

From Yahoo toady:
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. lowers consumer costs and adds jobs but has also led to a decline in wages and an increase in the number of people relying on government aid for health care, studies released on Friday show.

It seems that the US taxpayers are paying for Wal Mart employee's health care.

Well in exchange they have been keeping inflation down, so we'll call it an even trade.

that may be a fair assessment, but people whose lives have gotten steadily worse because of wal-mart will probably want to disagree with you.

Everyone loves capitalism when they are on top of the food chain, but then they bitch when someone gets left out in the cold. Sure, minimum wage could be $25 an hour and nobody would be poor... but if you want no disparity between the successful and the lower-class, head to a European socialist country.

If you're working at Walmart, it is YOUR fault. If you are qualified and motivated to find a better job, nobody is stopping you. If you aren't qualified to do so, why should Walmart have to pay more than the competitive price for your services?

i'm not talking about people who work at wal-mart, target, or other retailers making minimum wage - they are by and large the product of their own doing.

however, i wonder how many people here have actual, real world business experience dealing with the likes of wal-mart, target, staples, office depot, big lots, home depot, lowes, menards, etc.??? sound off if you deal with them directly and regularly, and i can guarantee that you will never see any retailers the same way ever again.

i watched a documentary on how walmart ****s us all up the ass.

one example is that they will go to a small town in the suburbs and say"if you build a walmart your city will grow bigger and bigger" and the city reps think it is a good idea. walmart then tells them that they will only come in if the city gives them rediculous tax breaks and a whole lot of other incentives that they would never give to any other business.

then walmart comes in and sells the thier crap and makes even more profit than they should because of the various breaks and incentives that they recieve from the local government.

then when thier 7 year (for example) window of benefits expires, wlmart packs up and relocates to another location that is just beyond the city lines. the town that walmart promised all of this great stuff too has effectively not seen a damn bit of good from walmart being there. they made shit off of walmart for taxes because of the breaks that they gave them, and then walmart moves, and all of the customers that walmart has established in this area continue to shop there when they relocate.

so, walmart gets to expand thier business and gets the means to make more profit as well as the ability to undercut smaller locally owned business in the process.

it is completley unethical.

(just for the record, my explaination was a simplified version of thier tcatics, there is obviously more involved)

...not to mention that walmart is the ****ing most white trash place in the world to shop.

when i first moved out on my own i would go shop there and i thought that people who shopped at tom thumb, kroger, publix, or any other small grocery stores were suckers.

at this time i was raising my little brother so i was effectiveley a single parent and i had to have a strict budget in order to accomplish that.

well he has grown up and moved out and i started making more money. i shopped at a regular grocery store, and holy god what a difference.

walmart is white trash mecca. every other grocery store is a little pricier but it is totally worth it to avoid the ****ing scum of the earth that you run into at walmart. i am not sure which came first, the chicken or the egg, or in this case are stupid people poor, or are poor people stupid, but either way when you go to walmart you are surrounded by mouth breathers who are also completley ****ing unaware of thier surroundings and they lack the ability to move out of the way when you are coming through with a basket, or whatever.

keep in mind, i am not talking about the walmart employees, i am talkineg about the customers.

i still hate paying too much for greoceries, so i am glad that target has started selling groceries. thier store is nicer, the people are less trashy, thier produce is better, and they are only marginally more expensive than walmart.

did i mention that i ****ing hate walmart
