Wow - that's SO BAD. Glad I have all my work on cars done by people who care (either me or my boyfriend). I've had 3 cars and only once did I go to a lube place to get the oil changed. They didn't even change the filter! I knew because the K&N filter I had put on last time was STILL there.

They charged my GF to change her tranny oil and air filter twice in a row at the same store. Called the headquarters and got her money back. A$$es.

I'm glad I don't trust anyone. I freakin' hate people like that. I hope the district manager got fired. What nerve to deny and lie. There's no integrity in our society. Sorry, just bitter and venting.

Sorry to tell you, but dealerships are a false sense of security. Unless you ACTUALLY know someone who works there, it is a waste of money and risky more often than not. Dealerships charge a higher labor rate and the technicians I have seen in action are terrible. A good and honest mechanic is really hard to find, lucky for me I know one. Whatever I cant do myself I take it to these guys and they treat me well, with reasonable rates.

there are certainly good dealerships. A good dealership shop will stand behind their work. And being a good mechanic is not the whole story. A tech at a dealership has access to tools and knowledge that an independent doesn't. So a problem that your average dealer tech could diagnose and repair in an hour or so can stump an independent and cost you time and again while they try to sort it out.
