A tech at a dealership has access to tools and knowledge that an independent doesn't. So a problem that your average dealer tech could diagnose and repair in an hour or so can stump an independent and cost you time and again while they try to sort it out.

5 out of 9 jiffy lubes are screwing people over. dealers are samething also. my friend used to work for honda as a tech and they would use generic oils instead of honda oils for any oil changes. i can't even remember the last time i took my car in for service at any dealers.
