I'm getting into bed in a few minutes, tell me a story and tuck me in, Raj.

It's like a classroom full of children sitting around waiting for teacher to read

During that short state of "death", does the patients ever recollect any memory of dreams or anything?

If so, shouldn't the person experience some sort of afterlife or heaven (whatever your belief is). If not, doesn't that disprove religion? well, unless the argument for that is "he's not REALLY dead."

From my limited experience, NO.

It doesn't disprove religion in that religion is not scientific and so the 'state of being dead' does not coincide with death in a manner that God would recognize what is happening and not bring this person into the afterlife frey as per someone's specific religious beliefs.

You could argue the body is "dead", but the soul is still living.

Scientifically speaking, the soul is the brain! so if the brain stops functioning, the soul is dead too!
