Default Any art enthusiats here? Need to identify a painting.

I bought a model home in Florida 2 1/2 years ago. It was fully furnished/decorated by a professional from Ft. Lauderdale (don't know the name), and we made an offer that included all the artwork in the house (about 20 prints and paintings). Below is a large oil on canvas (about 4' x 2.5') that was included. Does anybody have any clue how I can find out who the artist is, or maybe recognize the style? I can't find an obvious signature anywhere on it. Thanks.

btw, I don't think it's worth much, but almost all our visitors ask about it. I pretty much just shrug and say it came with the house.

The signature may be below the frame, or on the back of the canvas there may be some information.

I don't recognise it, thats for sure

I dont know who it is.... do you have a year of when it was made?

if you really want to know who made it, i'd recommend taking it to a college, alot of professors in the art's know much more and could probably tell you alot more than I, or take it to a fine arts musuem perhaps they would know.

I doubt anyone would recognize it tho. goodluck

Thanks, I'll try that. I haven't looked behind it 'cause it's so big.

Contact a few of the auction galleries who specialize in fine arts. They can run it through their databases; if its by anyone noteworthy they will find out.

If you get a name of the artist, do a google search and see if he is a known artist.

Without a signature on the front or any info on the back, you'll probably have a hard time finding the name of the artist. Although it looks similar in style to a number of artists, it doesn't look like anyone in particular that I'm familiar with.

I make it a point when I do a painting to write my info on the back of the painting on the frame of the canvas- my name, title of the painting, date made, etc. With that, anyone interested in commissioning me wouldn't have a hard time tracking me down.

Good luck.
