Any audiophiles here?
Just bought a set of Grado 325i's. They certainly live up to their reputation. A bit bright, but oh-so-amazing with rock albums. I didn't think it was possible to make the drums in "When the Levee Breaks" sound any better. These things are great.
I decided to go with an open set for now. I'm going to purchase the Denon AH-D5000's when I get a decent headamp.

. . . either that, or your digital source is starting to really show.

Break the Grado's in a bit. . . they should be less bright. . .

My source, however, is fine. Lossless files through the optical port on my macbook to my DAC, then on to the headamp.

The 325's are known to be very bright even after break in.

That seems bizarre. . . there again, I've only heard the SR-60s (everyone should own a pair at some point in their life), The T1, and have had the joy of using GS1000s for the better part of a week when they came out.

Yeah. . . but that's the thing:
New audiophiles should own a pair to see how awesome headphones can be. . . old audiophiles should own a pair to remember how much can be packed into $60 worth of kit.

I've had the Grado 325i's for about 3 weeks now and they are wonderful. They can be a bit bright at times, but I think they make the highs very tangible. It almost feels like you can reach out and touch a cymbal. I don't think they have burned in completely yet, and I suspect they will get a bit warmer with a few more hours of use (but not much warmer... it just isn't in their nature).
I just ordered a pair of Etymotic ER4P IEM's. I'll let you know what I think in a few weeks.
The rest of my headphone list for this year is:
Denon AH-D5000
Sennheiser HD650
AKG K701
Next year I will start climbing the Stax ladder. I'll probably have to sell a few sets of headphones to make that investment though.
