Didn't they like Niman Ranch the best but said that it's not worth the price ($54/lb for some roasts if I remember right)? I could try to find that issue if someone's interested. I think Cook's liked Costco steaks near the top and said for pretty good meat they are the best for the money, hands down.

That said, I've had Omaha steaks and they are fantastic. Their steakburgers are as good $14 prime hamburgers at steakhouses. I've never had their reserve, but for my money I'd want someone else cooking my meal at those prices

It's not that their bad, it's the cost -vs- quality issue. Their steaks are over rated and over priced.

Have you guys had steaks from Whole Foods Market? I bought some dry aged NY strip from them a few weeks ago, and they were awesome. (Never tried Omaha or anything else though)

I get my steaks from Andronico's here in the Bay Area. I usually get the dry aged filet mignons which go for $45 a pound. Omaha Steaks have nothing on these bad boys.

I have had some of them and enjoy the filet mignons. I would agree that they are overpriced for the quality but that is because there are two very highend grocery stores near me with very nice meat and seafood departments. If you don't live near one they are ok but I only use Omaha to send gifts.

BEWARE>>>>>>>>They ask for your phone number and then TELEMARKET THE HELL OUT OF YOU!!!!!!!! You will get calls about once a month telling you about some $150 package of meat until you beg them to stop calling.

Buying X-mas presents for people sux! Everyone has everything they want, so how would i find them something?

anyway...... i thought maybe some good food..... but this shit is expensive. $75.00 for Santa's Steak Combo
2 (6 oz.) Filet Mignons
2 (10 oz.) Boneless Strips
2 (8 oz.) Rib Eye
4 (5 oz.) Gourmet Burgers
Regular $131.00, Save $56.01 Your Special Price $74.99

I can get free shipping, so it would only cost me the $75 fir 6 steaks and 4 hamburgers....

seems too pricey to me?? is it really that good?

Thats $75 for three pounds. And the Minnesota Bison burgers I buy at the local grocery at 6 for $7 are better than the Omaha "gourmet" stuff.

Send me the filet mignon, along with some John Kerry sauce, and I'll tell you if it's good.

Just received the "variety pack" from Omaha steaks as a gift from one of the docs I work with. Very good. Good time to buy now. Mad cow has driven prices down.
