If you got a Costco near you, you won't taste the differnce. I purchased from them before and don't see what's the rave about. Maybe I'm lucky to alway eat the good stuff. Just remember when ordering you don't want any phone calls from them. I remember after I ordered, they kept calling and calling to see if I wanted to make another order.
Costco sells some good beef.
Hi Scott,
Omaha is ok. I don't believe they are "USDA Prime" though. They are choice which is still good. If you want the best, go to lobels (lobels.com). They sell the best meat. Very expensive though. Only really worth getting the filets though, as you can really taste the difference. Being in the Chicago area, there are a couple of places I know where I can get Prime meat. Forgot the breakdown, but believe prime grade is top 1% or so based on marbling and other factors. Typical grocery store store grade is select.
I have to second whoever mentioned bison. Cooked properly, I almost like this better than beef (should be cooked medium rare or rare).

I bought about $50 worth of Omaha steaks for my grandparents this year, I couldn't think of anything else to get.
The girl behind the register told me they were running a special, were you get all these free hamburgers for spending $50. They gave me like 2 extra boxes of meat, I might have to keep one.
