becareful when buying these items in foreign countries, especially asia, you could possibly be buying replicas if you don't know what to look for. and if customs finds that stuff, they'll take it away from you instantly.

I've got a Tag Heuer Chronometer, Stainless w/ Blue Face and a Maurice LaCroix Chronometer Stainless w/ Black Face.

My "beater" watches include a Seiko, Fossil, and one other one....I forget what it is though.

wow, this one has the orange face reminiscent of the famous Doxa dive watches. looks like it was given a fairly favorable review (with lots of other pictures). looks a tad bit overstyled for my personal tastes, but I definitely like the day/date display, as well as the apparently very strong luminescent glow. the reviewer raves about the smoothness in the movement of the bezel... I wonder how it compares to that of the Rolex Submariner, which really was a joy to turn (and if that doesn't peg me as a horological whore, I don't know what else will )

anyway, the review: here

also, on a general note, I'm not sure what's up with the latest fascination with large watches. such as Panerai and the like. (sorry, I know there's a few Panerai fans here... but really, I don't get it...)

doesn't everybody realize that it takes much more skill and engineering finesse to design a watch that is thin and small, especially if it has various complications to it?

it seems these days that people are proud to lug around veritable table clocks strapped on their wrists, but my enthusiasm goes to the manufacture who designs and assembles the myriad of super thin gears and structures in as small and elegant a package as possible... and that's where the real engineering beauty of fine Swiss watches comes through.
