im going in for a sleep study and just want to know what the options are for sleep apnea.. i know there are devices you can wear and surgery (last thing i want to do).. i also heard about a few new procedures.
im trying to cut some lbs to hopefully resolve this, but its hard if your not energetic enough due to the apnea..
btw: they charge ridiculous amounts for the sleep study.. i mean, all they are doing is taping it and have an ekg (i think thats what its called) hooked up to me..

A good friend of mine has sleep apnea (mostly due to weight).
They ended up setting him up on a C-PAP after several sleep studies and that worked fine for him.
Typically the first sleep study will have you sleep while hooked to several devices to monitor breathing, heartrate, REM, O2 saturation, etc.
Once they know what you're doing in your sleep, they'll usually do followup studies to test various machines (like a C-PAP) and settings to find one that works to make you sleep "normal".
My mother has frenetic nerve damage which has partially paralyzed her diaphram and she has tried C-PAP, Bi-PAP and several other devices and none have worked for her.

my dad had C-PAP machine too but didn't work out for him. he said it's very uncomfortable. with that on he wasn't able to get any sleep.
healthy diet with exercise will help more than anything i guess.

My dad has it as well, and he hates the C-PAP, doesn't wear it. But if the one night he did wear it, it worked.
