Any1 familiar with sleep apnea?
one of my really good friends had horrible sleep apnea. He would literally be sitting up in his sleep in the middle of the night and it looked like he was awake but then you'd realize he was asleep. Few times I thought he was dead since he would stop breathing for so long. He got the throat surgery and he's a lot better. He's a skinny dude so it wasn't weight related.

dr. said there were parts of my nose, tonsils, tongue, mouth, neck that were a bit large (some more than others).. i know that i was no longer snoring when i got down to 200lbs (im 5' 9") btw.. its just too bad i gained alot of weight back and now pretty close to 250. i asked him if im able to get the weight down, if the sleep apnea would go away for sure.. he said it could, but getting the weight down is good for other reasons, obviously.. also, some of his skinniest patients had the severe sleep apnea and some of the fattest and the most mildest cases..
im going to try to look for the most comfortable c-pap if thats what it comes down to and shed this weight for good.. this apnea is gotta be screwing with me physically and mentally..

Other than surgery, CPAP therapy is one of the least invasive medical treatments for sleep apnea, as well as oral appliances to protrude your jaw forward during sleep. There are a variety of CPAP masks out there to suit your needs, and more being developed for better long term compliance. I find that Respironics makes some of the more higher quality masks out there, something I've noticed as a sleep tech. CPAPs of today are more quieter and smaller as technology advances. Once you get used to the CPAP I'm sure you will find yourself with more energy during the day.

Contact ResMed. They're in So. Cal (Poway I think) and they have a machine that several people are happy with. I know because I shot a roundtable discussion for them a few yrs ago. They talked with several people who's lives were changed because they were finally able to sleep. They also interviewed sleep specialists who endorsed the machine. Don't know if they do sleep studies or how much they cost but they can probably suggest some study centers near you.
And yes, I believe exercise will help. I don't have S/A (at least I don't think I do) but I sleep better when I exercise regularly.
