In march I'lll be graduating with a B.S. degree in Business Administration (concentration in Management) and I want to start my career in the insurance industry, I want to focus on some sort of adjuster (auto/property claims adjuster)

I was looking to get into this work at one point. I have my associates and was looking to do something while im taking a break from school this semester.

Im pretty sure you have to pass a specific test in order to do this. You don't need a BA, but im sure it will help out greatly when getting a job and salery.

Most auto adjusters that I deal with have body shop experience.
Also most of them have been fired and re-hired as independent contractors and they hate it. Work from home.
Look into the claims office work.

I was looking into Farmers Insurance, they have an auto physical damage claims rep position and here's the training provide.

Basic training:

* Eight weeks in the field, learning from experienced CRs and mentors.

* Two weeks of coursework and hands-on claims estimating practice at the University of Farmers, Claims, in Agoura Hills, California.

i am in school and have worked for an insurance agency for a few years now. while i am not on the firm side, i have plenty of insight into those positions.

OP - if you go into this field, you either want to be an agency principle or avoid the agency side all together. everyone i work with hates their job...everyone. and honestly, my office is not bad.

as for our contacts on the firm side...i have noticed people that are successful, advancing, and happy.

i have also noticed people complacent and bored. i feel like it is not too hard to stand out from the crowd as many of the positions that are necessary to enter in order to advance are relatively unskilled positions.

good luck...i wouldn't get too excited about it though...sorry to cast a somewhat negative light...just my experience

What's the difference between agency side and firm side?

many insurance companies use agents or brokers to sell their products..they are independent of the insurance firms...firms are corporations..agencies are mainly partnerships or proprieties

Ahh, I understand now, I'll definitely want to be on the firm side, not into sales but adjuster type position.
