Default Anyone here explored abandoned mansions?

There were a couple of recent stories about abandoned mansions. One of them is near Phila. that is in total decay but still has a lot of security around it. The other one has a fund to hire people to take care of it. These stories reminded me of an article I read a couple of years ago on "urban explorers" who tour through old abandoned buildings for the fun of it, not to destroy, deface or even live in them. Their motto, according to Wikipedia is "take nothing but photographs, leave nothing but footprints".

I thought checking out old abandoned mansions would be cool. Anyone here tried urban exploring, be it mansions or other buildings?

There's an old house with a graveyard, down some back roads near me in Northern Baltimore county...shits crazy.

Another story I had with some friends from HS.....there is an old camp that had a house on it. We decided to go back to scope it out and it was so run down and old, like no one had been back there in years. This was at night while we were back there in my buddy's old Toyota Tacoma...a few of us were in the bed of the truck. So we went back and were walking around and we could see the rundown buildings and we wer walking around the property and we were going to go into the main building when we heard a dog barking and no shit, about a 1/4 mile up the dirt drive we saw headlights pop on...we got so focking scared and jumped in the truck....the headlights were coming down towards us...we high tailed out of there and never went back

I actually do quite a bit of urbex. Seen transit tunnels, drains and abandoned buildings. My most recent exploit was the acension of a construction crane, cut short 14 stories up by security.

me and some friends snuck into the coco palms on kauai last year, it was one of the nicest hotels on the hawaiian islands but it got hit by a hurricane in the early 90s and was deemed too expensive to repair. some rooms are EXACTLY the way they were the day the hurricane hit, and all the paperwork is still on the desks of the office, all dated the day before the hurricane. very creepy. i would LOVE to go down into all the tunnels under nyc, all the abandoned subway shafts and whatnot, theres truly an underground city down there. they actually did a press tour down there for "the taking of pelham 123" and it looked AWESOME.

found it: http://www.firstshowing.net/2009/06/10/son...subway-tunnels/

i would also love to see some of huguette clarks homes:

Prefer searching out old barns and out buildings for antique cars/planes nationwide.
