the thing with gambling is that the highs are unbelievable and the lows are as well. the mix of emotions can not be described. i play online poker on partypoker and ultimatebet and i had a good run, then i had a horror run and now i straightened my game up a little. i do it for enjoyment, not as a career.
remember to gamble only what u can afford, have a "bankroll" that u bet with, whether its $1000, or $100k, and that is what u play with.
i understand who u feel when others dont believe u or arent supportive. but dont be discouraged. just keep doing it if u enjoy it, the lifestyle is pretty seedy tho, and it can be glamorous. u chase the adrenaline rush and the lights.
but i think i heard it put well once, gambling actually generates no societal benefit, in fact u deprive others by taking their money when u win. being a professional gambler doesnt make the community better, it creates nothing, but dont get me wrong, i like to gamble, but only with poker and i buy the occasional lotto ticket.

I once saw a guy lose $50K in 1/2 an hour at a craps table in the Bellagio (Vegas). At first I thought to myself, "Wow. I wish I had the kind of income stream to gamble with $50,000."

30 mins later it was all gone. I watched him walk away from the table and then kick the ground and curse himself. Right in front of everybody, he couldn't even hide his disgust with himself. Guess he really couldn't afford to gamble with it after all.
