That's exactly why I don't really even bother to watch the WWE anymore. HHH needs to step down and let some of the newer guys shine. Guys like Bautista, Randy Orton, etc. are being held back by the likes of HHH. I mean, for example, by having Orton and Bautista in HHH's "faction", they're pretty much in his shadow. Even when Orton left Evolution, he's still screwed out of ever getting the title, since we all know HHH and the storyline writers would never let up. Also, I doubt Bautista is ever going to get anywhere, other than being HHH or somebody's stooge. (I guess it helps that HHH is married to Stephanie in real life.)

Also, when Goldberg came in, they totally misrepresented his character and made him look relatively weak. I mean, how many times did HHH and the rest of them screw Goldberg over...and get away with it! The REAL Goldberg (from before) would just come in, kick ass, Spear, Jackhammer, then leave. Simple and effective. He was the "anti-hero" type that even the good guys were afraid of...which was what made it so cool. Instead WWE tried to make him "more human", and failed horribly.

I basically stopped watching after: 1.) Vince screwed Bret Hart on that infamous night in his hometown of Calgary.. What was supposed to happen as many of you know (by watching the Bret Doc.) was that Bret wanted to leave on his own terms.. Beat Michaels.. Then Retire or give up the belt on Raw.. Because he had an offer from WCW.. and he did a lot for the corporation in the 90's.. and Vince screwed him over.

But what REALLY had me stop watching was when Owen Hart died in that very unfortunate accident on PPV.. Vince should have stopped the show right then and there..

I used to love watching wrestling. I was one of the kids that grew up with the Hulkamania action figures... then the ratings war between WCW and WWF.. I stopped watching when the WWF bought out WCW. I thought it would get better, but it really did get much worse. As a true wrestling fan, it just felt depressing watching WWF go down the drain like that. I thought they would use the WCW buyout as a great angle, but it hurt the company so bad in my eyes. I tried to watch it again, but as some others have said... Triple H needs to step down.... or do something else. He has been the top heel for how many years? It's just really old in my book. Oh well...

They don't have any franchise guys anymore.. everyone is on the same level now it seems.. ie. There really is nobody worth seeing that was a must-see like before.. I mean, The Rock was the last guy to leave that was really worth the price of admission.. everybody else now, blah.. just huge musles, but no personalities

None of the guys left have the kind of charisma or the acting talent needed to keep you watching these days. If anything, they DO have wrestling skills, but not much else...

BTW, did anybody catch the latest storyline involving Matt Hardy/Lita/Kane/and some new jobber guy named Gene Snitskey? My friend just explained this one and it goes something like this:

* Kane beats the crap out of Matt, but Lita begs him to stop and that she'll do "anything" to make him stop. Kane agrees...and she now "owes" him something. (DUN-DUN-DUN!!!)

* During the next few weeks, everyone is left to wonder what Lita did for Kane to keep him from destroying Matt. (Yeah, you know where THIS is going...)

* Lita finds out she's pregnant. Matt is excited to know he's about to become a father, but secretly Lita thinks it may be Kane's baby (woo-hoo, BIG surprise there )

* Lita breaks it down to Matt, and after some BS, somehow Kane and Matt end up battling in a "Till Death Do Us Part" match, with the winner ending up with Lita. Kane wins. (DUH!)

* Kane and Lita are wed...but not before a futile effort by Matt to stop the wedding.

* A week or two of BS pass...Lita's pregnancy is beginning to "show".

Now this is where it gets interesting...

* Later, Kane is booked to fight a "jobber" by the name of Gene Snitskey. During the match, Snitskey lands a vicious chairshot into Kane, knocking him hard onto the pregnant Lita.

* A week later, Lita and Kane are shown in an emergency room, and they find out they had lost the baby.

* Snitskey, now a marked man, denies any wrong doing, and goes as far as to saying that it was Lita's fault for being there in the first place. (Supposedly, this was handled tastelessly, with Snitskey coming out with a baby stroller right before a ring interview)

* Now Kane and Snitsky are in a feud. (Effectively making Kane a "face" and Snitskey a "heel")

My friend tells me they purposely did this to turn Kane into a face, as his contract is up soon, and may not be returning. As we all know, before you take your final bow in the wrestling biz, you're humiliated and severely beaten...all the while making the "new" guy look good.

Okay, now THIS is exactly why I don't even bother to watch anymore...tasteless and crude indeed...

man this is so true. I watched smackdown and the blockbuster characters are not their. I mean lots of equal people but they need more teams more storyline. Maybe NWO and a couple more factiosn can come back I dunno. Its like Chavo guerro is comign back next week? who cares!! he is a cruiser weight.
Bring back sting or something......So many people but they are undevleoped and don't stand out. Bring more wrestlers or something. I m sick of HBK hes what like almost 60??? Benoi, edge I mean they are not the caliber of the rock, stone cold, Goldberg....Find some big guys or something...

If any of you old-schoolers have the time, I would suggest finding a copy of Wrestlemania 17. One of the matches was a "Gimmick Battle Royale", where they brought in some of the old-schoolers to battle one another. And to add to the nostalgia, they brought in "Mean" Gene Okerlund and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan to do the commentary for that match.

The contestants were: Bushwhackers, Duke the Dumpster, Iron Sheik, Earthquake, The Goon, Doink the Clown, Kamala, Repo Man, Jim Cornette, Nikolai Volkoff, Michael Hayes, One Man Gang, Gobbledygooker, Tugboat, Hillbilly Jim, Brother Love and Sgt. Slaughter.

IMO, the funniest part of this match was when The Brain and Mean Gene were introducing the contestants as they walked towards the ring. The Brain got around to introducing The Iron Sheik, and said (obviously poking fun at Sheik's old age), "By the time the Iron Sheik gets to the ring it'll be WrestleMania 38!"

That was also the last Wrestlemania I watched.
