Not only is this a horrid idea, but Alan Cox is saying he's going to leave if it was to take place.

Atleast according to Slashdot.

Does this not have the aroma of another Microsoft style world domination plot?

OMG this would seriously suck. I will switch strictly to FreeBSD if this occurs. As a former employee of this kickass company, I'm sad

But, I'm gonna call my homies there now and try to get the inside scoop.

OK. The inside scoop is that when RH management was asked about this, they simply said it was a rumor, and they did not say it wasn't true - kind of alarming.

My buddy there said he is prepared to accept the worst, and has some positive thoughts on the matter surprisingly enough.

I sure as hell hope it doesn't happen, but even if it does, of course linux will not die or go away.
RH does employ quite a few kernel programmers, and a bunch of gnome coders, but I'm pretty sure those geeks will write code no matter what.

In the end, the GPL will save linux from dying.
