1/2 the cost? 500 bucks? I dont remember the iphone being 1K. IIRC, you CAN buy the iphone outright...it is pricier though. I remember reading its cheaper to sign up for a plan, then cancel it.

The plan for the iPad (lol) costs just as much as the iphone for 3G service, 30$ a month...which is gonna suck for the iphone users as its gonna just bog down the ATT network...fml!
Reading IS fundamental

1/2 the cost for service

ya see

Iphone is 69.99 monthly minimum for talk and data ya cant buy one without the other

Ipad is 29.99 or less for data only

so

Like i said 1/2 the cost if you dont want the phone option and o wait you CANNOT buy an Iphone outright from a retailer or ATT or APPLE you could at one time but you cannot anymore so that solves that.

Anyhow Peace out

ill take one...in fact i plan on dumping my netbook to pick it up..

Why?

my wife watches a lot of TV crap i don't like..so I will be next to her on the couch and surfing the net. I do that now with my netbook..but I'd much rather have the iPad...

for just surfing, reading, and buying shit, its great.

also I will probably use it as a design portfolio for clients..a lot cooler than a traditional printed portfolio

Show me someone between the age of 15 and 51 who can afford a cell phone but doesn't carry one? There aren't much plans out there that cost too much less than 40 a month...not to mention, the inital 400$ more the ipad costs will take a while to even out. This is just how hybrid owners think..."ooh but it'll save money in the long run..." and if they calculate it, turns out the "long run" = 5-10+ years. $400 dollars difference over 2 years is ~ 17 a month. 70-30-17 = 23$ plan.
If you plan on recouping your losses within 2 years, you better have a cell plan that costs $23.

obviously this is a flawed comparison, but its as close as you can get.

^if it was more laptop-esque I could see netbook buyers being swayed by it, but its so....NOT a computer. I wonder if a stylus works on it? people MIGHT buy it if it works as a "tablet" to draw with...
