alright, the more i've thought about it, i could see using it. like iwantyourcar said, i've been wanting a laptop to really sit in the living room and mess with. right now we have an iMac upstairs. we don't have a tv there so i can't just chill, watch tv and browse the net. but i don't need all the capabilities of a laptop, since all i want to do basically is download music and browse.

that being said, this thing isn't as spectacular as they make it out to be. i definitely don't want to give $30 a month to AT&T for service. plus it's bullshit that you have to pay extra for the 3G equipped version. no flash? wtf?! no camera? wtf?! even the tiny iPod nano has a fukin camera. i don't see myself carrying this thing around either. it would reside in the living room pretty much and pick up our wireless from our Time Capsule. does it have multi-touch or not?

anyway, the base model is cheaper than expected, which puts it in a good price range for me to buy over a new Macbook. i don't need the storage since i could just save everything to the Time Capsule. but it certainly lacks a lot of options that should be standard on something like this.

Ipud. I already have an Itouch gathering dust, not sure why I would want this thing. I guess it could do double duty as not only a paperweight but possibly a door stop as well.

No flash is a killer. It WILL be a while before HTML5 makes this a non issue. As of now you are unable to watch videos, use flash apps, and play games over the internet.

16-64 gigs max? Is this a joke? Even ipods go up to 160gigs of data you would think that a larger model would have a larger hard drive. Not to mention HD space is cheap and 16g is totally useless in this day and age.

Not to mention NO external and expandable memory? Are you KIDDING?!?!

No multitasking, WTF? The most limiting feature of the Iphone makes its way to the IPud. How is this even an issue in 2010?

You cannot install any no apple supported (and paid for) software. It is extremely limited in what it can do. I guess this is not a big deal if you stick to fart machine apps that the app store is known for.

No camera? Too big for the gym, doesn't make calls? I guess I'll apple wants you to carry around a camera for pictures, an Ipod for music, and a phone for communication/surfing. This does and is intended for what again?

1ghz chip. Whopptee friggen do. The nexus one has a ghz chip, will support flash, and isn't limited by what apple will allow your device to do.

I cannot see one single reason to buy this POS and I'm leaning towards the thought that anyone that does is just a blind apple monkey that will eat whatever sh*t that apple throws at you.

My wife wants one. I'd rather shell out big bucks for a real Apple laptop.

BEHOLD! Apple had one last surprise yesterday after the unveiling of the ipad.

It's the IMOTE! It does everything a remote does (and really nothing more), but it's BIGGER!

They ARE releasing a stylus for this.. its called the iPon.

No multi tasking on a screen this big is a total joke. only running app store apps on a screen this big is a total joke. no usb connection is a total joke.

Apple should have loaded a gimped os x instead

Then don't get it. Like it or not, this thing will sell like hot cakes and most likly change the business model of many companies in the netbook / small laptop area

No flash is a killer. It WILL be a while before HTML5 makes this a non issue. As of now you are unable to watch videos, use flash apps, and play games over the internet.

I do agree, no flash hurts big time.

16-64 gigs max? Is this a joke? Even ipods go up to 160gigs of data you would think that a larger model would have a larger hard drive. Not to mention HD space is cheap and 16g is totally useless in this day and age.

A) its flash memory and not a HDD. Solid state drives arn't much bigger then 80GBs or so unless they cost an arm and a leg. B) For what this is designed to do, why would you need more then say 50GBs? It's not geared as an MP3 player (though it can play them) that holds thousands and thousands of songs

Not to mention NO external and expandable memory? Are you KIDDING?!?!

Incorrect, it has a dock connector which I guarentee will have compatiable card readers and such for it by the time it launches (if not a little later)

No multitasking, WTF? The most limiting feature of the Iphone makes its way to the IPud. How is this even an issue in 2010?

This is being rumored to release with OS 4.0

You cannot install any no apple supported (and paid for) software. It is extremely limited in what it can do. I guess this is not a big deal if you stick to fart machine apps that the app store is known for.

It'll be jailbroken soon enough. It can already run 140,000 different programs and expect thousands upon thousands more to come out by the day of launch. It plays music / movies / games / applications that are becoming ever more creative / surfs the web / has GPS (3g version) / etc. Honestly what is it limited in???

No camera? Too big for the gym, doesn't make calls? I guess I'll apple wants you to carry around a camera for pictures, an Ipod for music, and a phone for communication/surfing. This does and is intended for what again?

If you have paid attention to apple and how they market items, expect the next upgraded model ipad to have a camera, and the next one to have whatever else people bitch about, and the next one to have whatever, etc. Apple is in it for money and they are VERY good at giving you just enough but wanting a little more so when the next model comes out, you'll upgrade.

Why the hell would you bring a laptop to the gym? Bring an ipod / touch / phone. It's a small laptop, of course it doesn't make calls, wtf? Actually, I have to lol at your reasoning. If you actually use your brain a little you'll see their marketing and planning is genious, hence why they make so much damn money. Ipod for dedicated music and the amount of storage shows this. Iphone for someone with a few playlists, very light web browsing, watching videos (although very small), talking, etc. Basically an all-in-on that excels in portability more than anything. Itouch for people who don't have / don't want ATT, don't need a cell phone (kids or people who already have phones), etc. Ipad, excels at video / internet / apps but not as good at mobility. They have EVERY market section covered in mobile devices, if you can't see that your blind

1ghz chip. Whopptee friggen do. The nexus one has a ghz chip, will support flash, and isn't limited by what apple will allow your device to do.

Speed means nothing. My old pentium 4 chip at 3.5Ghz is at least twice as slow as my core i7 at 2.5Ghz. It's about articheture (sp?) of the motherboard and the processor

I cannot see one single reason to buy this POS and I'm leaning towards the thought that anyone that does is just a blind apple monkey that will eat whatever sh*t that apple throws at you.

Your apparently a blind monkey that will eat whatever sh*t certain media haters throw at you
see above

For the record, I don't plan on getting one but that doesn't mean I'll let people mindlessly bash it (as seen above). Also, I own both PCs and Macs so the "oh I'm a mac fanboy" is bs.

I'll wait for gen 2 or 3 of this once the bugs are worked out and the large scale b-testing is over.
