attacking bicyclists in santa cruz
I was driving around santa cruz the other day when i ran all the way up 1st gear to make it onto a road. As i'm slowing down, a bicyclist on one of those sit-down pedal bikes (where you sit back and keep your hands at your sides) yells at me "slow down!" since i wasn't speeding, i threw my arms up in the air new york-style. Four block later this azzhole pulls up next to me at a red light, starts yelling at me, hits and breaks my side view mirror and then spits at me as i pull away. A little while later I see him again and he approaches me and hits me as I'm dialing 911 (I'm not a guy to get in a fight, I haven't fought a person since 5th grade).
This guy is in his mid 50s, salt and pepper hair cut medium length, rides a red sit-down style bike around santa cruz. If you see him he's wanted for vandalism and battery, so ask his name and pass it on. I want this fvcker served to me on a plate.

I had somebody scream at me to slow down one day when I wasn't even close to speeding. All they heard was me ripping up in 1st gear near redline and when they saw me they start screaming. Glad they didn't resort to the kind of crap that you were subjected too, though.
I get A LOT of this... if the revs are up there, no matter how slow you go I always hear a "Slow dowww--!" I guess it might be prudent to keep it in 3rd/4th gear in residential areas, yeah?

I get this once in awhile too. Unfortunately, I am a hot head. A week ago, this touristy looking couple yells, "hey, slow that f*ckin car down" in the snidest way you can imagine as I pull out of my street(below the speed limit). Mind you, I have the HKS exhaust so it sounds faster than it really is....
I stop at the stoplight and calmly tell them to 'go f*ck yourself' and a middle finger and proceed (I know, not very classy/mature. But I was ticked off).
California is a very 'bike-friendly' state in general. Best bet is to avoid any hassles with them since courts will often take their side.

I wonder if any of you guys are cyclists. I am, and I have sympathy for them. Try riding a bicycle in this auto-centric nation, and you'll find yourself looking death in the face a lot more often than you do behind the wheel of a car. What this guy did by damaging your mirror was really wrong and cannot be defended... but I wonder if you were just projecting engine noise, or if you were actually encroaching on his space. I've never gotten verbal with any automobile driver unless they endangered my life, and I've NEVER taken any physical action against them. Some people are less rational, and after narrowly avoiding being run over, they tend to get a bit upset. Could this be what happened?
