Threadgill's? i've never even heard of it, i'll have to try to find it next time i go down there, hopefully next weekend
There's 2. One is around Barton Springs & Congress.... kinda caddy-corner from the Hooters. That's the one I usually go to. The other is up north on Lamar somewhere... maybe 51st & Lamar?

6th street isn't the same anymore. ghetto fab, frat boy douchebags, scenesters, etc.

if you've never done it, I suppose its worth at least experiencing.

really, austin's about the live music. ACL is coming up....

check out waterloo records while you're there, great music store.

also for a great midscale brunch, check out Taverna, I think it's on 2nd street. free refill mimosas and woodfire breakfast pizza ftw. There's another breakfast/brunch place that is kickass, but I cant remember the name, it's near an over pass and a giant awesome park near a body of water. Pretty close to downtown. the wait is huge though, usually an hour.

Oh also check out The Spiderhouse for drinking, it's more of a chill atmosphere than you get on 6th street.

also, make sure you go around saying howdy, gig'em, and saw'em off. wear as much maroon and white as possible. You'll make friends in no time.

(lol whoop!)

everything has been said. 6th street, horny chicks, lake Travis, more horny chicks, Live music, and of course horny college chicks. but, if you're bringing your S or any other car that is fun to drive i recommend lime creek road.

Since you say you love outdoors, I will mention a couple places: Hamilton Pool which I would wait until we get some rain.

And The Barton Creek GreenBelt is a really nice hike for a Saturday afternoon even though it is right in the city. (We usually enter at the spyglass entrance and head the opposite direction of Zilker.)

We are in the worst drought that central texas has had since the 60's so bear in mind that water levels are low everywhere.

There is also some cool little hikes up along 360 near spicewood springs road.

If you like to swim Hamilton Pool is awesome... but I think they are draining it or are about to drain it for some major maintenance issues.

Also, Austin is on the edge of the Hill Country -- you just have to head west and you will have lots of possibilities to do in the outdoors - fun roads - neat little towns etc etc.
