My dad work for Boeing in the '50s. He was a technical writer and
wrote the assembly manual for the wings. He tells me that
*EVERY* rivet was inspected and initialed.

My dad worked for Cleveland Pneumatic (no BF Goodrich) from the late '50s to the early '70s and they machined and assembled the landing gears for them.

What's really crazy is that they're slated to remain in service until (I think) 2040 now. I guess if it ain't broke, don't fix it...

The B-2 is a pile of crap. It is massively overpriced for what it can accomplish, is a royal pain in the rear to maintain, and for what little it's worth, is ugly.

My heart lies with the B-1B, mainly because I worked on that program for 7 years (1981-1988), I developed software for the AN/APQ-164 Offensive Radar system. The B-1B is a very capable weapons delivery system.

The B-52 is still an awesome aircraft. The B-2 is very cool too!
