thanks for all the help nine also the rest of you guys I went ahead and ordered a 9100 top fo the l ine with all the bells and whisltes almost close to 2k.....I couldnt help it lol... The coupon helped The weird thing is that it says ship date is the 14th and I ordered it today...the 6th? So 7 days to build the sucker? I didnt order anything to crazy. Just hope it gets here by the 19th when I move to my new apt...

I can't belive I spent this much $ on a comp sinceI'm not a gamer or anything but its a good thing to have a reliable comp instead of the 64mb of ram laptop inspiron I'm currently typing on plus with me just graduating with my MBA and getting hired at a pretty large corporation/firm I should have a good computer!!

I could have used the $$ to buy some comptech sideskirts and more lol.......but I can do that anytime so its cool Sideskirts will come then maybe next month or 2.

Even though I don't game I'll probbaly have to try out that game battlefield 1 and 2? since everyone on s2ki seems to luv it and my comp is 3ghz with over 1k or ram

SilverKnight, regarding battlefield 2, if you have a 3ghz, with 1gb of ram, and the elshitto fx5200 or whatever dell serve you with these days, it'd be like running a 3 year old system.

Also, is it just me, or do all these pre-packaged systems seem to run slower? My gf got a compaq, with a 2.8, 512 ddr, 80gb hdd, fx5200 etc... What i thought would be very reasonable for what they wanted, and it runs like a celeron 300, you have to wait 3 minutes *no joke* to log in, everything takes forever... I have no clue why, i formated it, and it runs fine under normal XP, but the compaq crap slows it down heaps.

Definitely build your own. It's cheaper and super easy. The best thing about building your own is that you can put better parts into it and not deal with integrated motherboards. But if you don't want to build your own, look at ebay. They have Dell Dimension 2400's, 2.4ghz, for around 300 even shipped. This is good enough for what you want to do.

Go to www.dealcatcher.com or www.digitaldeals.net and you'll see a bunch of SB Dell Deals giving you the dell9100 for 599 with a 17"lcd. They have a deal now where you can get a 24" LCD with the 9100 for only 1199. That's an unreal deal!!

Another deal with the 9100 and a 20"LCD yields a price of only 849.

Granted, it is only 512ram and 40gb HD, but for what the OP listed as the comps primary purpose, these specs are more than enough.

At only 599 you can easily add your on crap for a few hundred bucks.

BF2 is a lot better than the original but no reason to rush out and get a new system. And Dell will always be cheaper because of the parts they use. Memory is not just memory, a hard drive is not just a hard drive. If you've got the money and actually care about the quality of parts going into your machine and want it to not break or have any problems.. then .. The Chip Merchant
