Default Best digital camera for about $300?

Hey everyone, I am looking for the best 3-4MP digital camera I can get for around $300. I will mainly just use it to snap photos but I don't mind some manual controls. The zoom isn't that important for me.

Thanks in advance

i just bought a Canon A75 off circuitcity.com for @$180 b4 taxes. you can get it without taxes if they deliver it, i did an in-store pickup cuz my son is due any minute now.

it's 3.2MP, 3x optical zoom, 12 different shooting modes etc. it's real easy to use, a bit bigger than an ultra-compact, but a good value.

My co-worker picked up a Minolta Dimage G400 under $300 at 6th Ave, it's a electronics store here in NYC area. I believe they have a website also. It's a really good camera at the price range, 4 megapixel and it's quite fast also (startup and between shots).

I second the A75 or higher. I have an older Canon S30, and my family bought two A75s recently. They're good cameras.

Also, check out www.stevesdigicams.com for reviews of cameras in your price range.

I ordered the Canon A85. It was about $210 but I added a camera pouch, 128mb stick, and rechargable batters and it came to an even $300.

This is the one I have been considering...

A95

There are a couple of retailers selling them for $300. The price sounds almost too good to be true which makes me somewhat hesitant to buy it.
