Best place to buy a suit?
allkingz, you missed a good sale Men's Wearhouse had - 2 suits for like $350. I bought 2 of their in-house brand suits (Versini brand, made in Korea), one is a 4 button black suit, one is a 3 button dark blue suit. Both looks great and the fit was excellent. The tailor will be able to match your needs. Also, buy their wrinkle free shirts - I find their Pronto-Uomo (again, it's in-house brand) wrinkle free shirts to be beefier (buttons are sturdier, fabric seemingly stronger) and should last a lot more washing and ironing cycles. I think you can still get in on good deals though. Join their club thing, it gets you a $50 gift certificate for every $500 you spend.

That was my initial plan.
The suit is primarily for the interview and the other rare occasion that I need a suit. I won't be wearing a suit on a daily, weekly, or even monthly basis.

Per happs22, INVEST in a good pair of shoes. Black lace-up cap toe or Black wing-tip.
Per PLYRS 3, INVEST in a good tie.
Also get a quality white shirt, and send it out to the cleaners.
Any one of the stores listed will have all of the above and, more importantly, sales staff that can bring it all together for you. Your looking at $700 +/- all-in
You will have a look for interviews, weddings, funerals, etc.
Mens Warehouse and Joseph A. Banks are good alternatives in a lower price range and also sell suiting separates to avoid alot of alteration bills.
Dress slacks, fitted white shirt, yes my favorite thing nice "dress boots", I have my same Ken Cole square tips for two years, they're casual / dress... irreplacable.
I'm in the real estate business, attire is very important.
The suit is cool if you can floss it comfortably... otherwise =F it, look presentable. Only the dudes at Wall Street wear suits.

Depends on your budget, You can get a nice 3-4 hundred dollar suit at Joseph Banks which is nice. Or you could step it up to 7-8 hundred for an Armani suit at off-fifth (sax-fifth store) I would def. get a nice 2 button, it has always been in style and always will be. While all the other kinds come and go such as 3 button, double breasted etc.
Unfortunately anything under 1k is probably not sewn but fused. Most of the premade suits fall in this category. DOn't get me wrong, I own five of those premade fused suits. If you want a really good one you need to have it hand made. You pick the fabric and have it sewn. MAxwells comes around the states and measures you up and sells you suits that are then made buy child slave labor (j/k) in hong kong and shipped back to the states. Probably the best deal ever. You get to pick the fabric and they hand make it to your body! Takes about 10 weeks. I'll see if I can find the web site tomorrow AM. This is your 100% best bet if your on a budget, i think they are around $500 which is freakin incredible. I wouldn't be surprised if it was child labor but damn the shirts are grade A. I have five from them and they fit like a glove and the sea cotton and egyptian cotton are wonderful.
