I ride a cruiser - an '00 Suzuki Marauder VZ800.

If I have almost nothing to bring with, the bike is a much more fun ride. It's a bit slower and someone nearly causes my early demise every time I ride, but getting out of the city and blasting down the county roads, wind flowing through your hair, is a feeling that really cannot be beat.

That said, my '00 Marauder has 5800 miles on it, and my '00 S2k has 112,000. The time I spend on my little death-trap is limited.

 

For the price of a new CBR Im sure you could buy a early AP1 for the same money

Honda CBR 600RR (example for a bike):

More Fun = Way More Dangerous

Climate = Worry

Unpredictable Traffic = Suit and Armor = Good Luck

Honda S2000 (example for a car):

Fun = Way Less Dangerous

Climate = Top Up

Unprdictable Traffic = Casual Clothes

-> If I may get a 2-wheeler it may not be a crotch-rocket though, maybe a sport cruiser (Honda ST1300), a scooter (Ruckus or Silver Wing), or somthing else (Interceptor {got to have VTEC yo!}).

 

I love being on my bike, but its a different kind of fun. If I had to sell the S for a truck, I think a bike would be a good companion to the truck for a fun toy to tool around on when the weather's good. I don't ride in the rain or threat of rain, I don't ride at night, I don't ride when its below 50 or over 90, etc.

That said, if you are looking at a bike, unless you're going to a track with it, I don't see any reason to own a sport bike. They are uncomfortable to ride casually and very powerful. That's why I prefer nakeds or cruisers.

 

bikes are a lot of fun. but if you decided to get one be prepared to treat like every car like its out to get you. trucks wont see you and cars will run you off the road. i got my S right after some schmuck failed to yield and had me in physical therapy for 6 months.
also, please dont be a squid and try to start off with a 1000 as your first bike, ive seen a lot of friends get hurt that way.

 

Riding is nothing like the the s2k. If you are in stop and go traffic, it sucks, no matter if you are in the s2000 or on two wheels. Once you get going though, there is something different about being on two wheels. Not everyone will understand, but that's ok. Its kind of like why people don't understand that you can daily drive a 2 seater roadster that has less sound deadening than a Yugo, and enjoy every second of it. Be forewarned though, it is not for everyone and you may find you don't enjoy it as much as you think.

 

the bike is indeed fun and its is way dangerous than alot of things but you know what, you can get hurt even walking down the street. you just have to be 1000% more attentive and defensive than you normally would be. but like someones says, what's life without risk?

 

Fwiw, bikes aren't dangerous, interacting with the general public is.

 

I sold my Cayman S after picking up a Honda CBR600RR. It made the Cayman seem dull.

 

when I bought the s2000, I figured it was about 75% of the fun I could have on a bike, with about a 95% less chance of me killing myself.
