I put on 65 pounds at 17-19 with lifting -- no outside substances and grew an inch as well.

but then the question is, "would I have been taller if I had not lifted, and instead just did normal calistenics?" Personally I think its genetics, age of starting, and amount of weight\difficulty of training is put on the person.

Ignore previous post of mine... I replaced it with information that was more relevant to stunted growth. They suggest that overuse injury can result in damage to the growth plates and stunt growth.

I too lifted at 17 and continue to lift.. I'm 6ft 1 now though. Our swim team coach wouldn't let us do maximal lifts (i.e. max out) or do power movements like clean and jerk.
