Default Bottled water

Is buying bottled water the biggest waste of money ever? I'm talking about the 20 oz Aquafina, Dasani, etc bottles, not the 5/10 gallon jugs that you get delivered to your home.

On a regular basis I see people paying $1.00 for a 20 oz bottle of water in the cafeteria when there is a drinking fountain within 20 feet of them. Not only that, you can get free cups from the cafeteria so you can bring it back to your desk. If you bought two bottles of it every day, that's $730 a year!!! Couldn't you spend that money on something better when you can get filtered water for FREE everywhere?

it's possible to catch diseases from public drinking fountains, and water from cafeteria and restaurants are mainly tap water, cuz i doubt they change their filters very frequently.

^ blaaaa... that shit just makes you stronger. It is rare that I drink bottled water..... I drink out of fountains all the time and I rarely get sick.

At my kids school they use Macaroni for "bingo" chips.... i ate some of the 20 year old macaroni to be funny and didn't get sick... it had been on the floor, mixed in with ass-pennies, etc....

I've heard from reliable sources, that most bottled water is no more pure then most tap water.. and myself, can't tell the difference in taste from any of it..

except.. when I was in Korea, that water was the worst tasting ever..

I buy bottled water only when there is no alternative, and I am dying of thirst.. I for one, think it's a big scam for all except for where bottled water is needed to replace non potable water..

You are correct. Bottled water is to tap water as synthetic oil is to regular oil. It is a piece of mind thing.

I drink filtered water all the time. IF you want something cleaner, you can always go to a small water store, and it costs ten cents a gallon.

Much of your bottled water is "spring water" or "well water". Just because it is bottled does not mean that it has been filtered or purified in any way. Read the labels. Some of them (very few) do claim to be purified. If you really want pure, you will have to get the distilled water and that is really flat tasting.

A couple of years ago I read something about government regulations requiring municipal water supplies to be monitored more closely than commercial water bottling plants.

My wife buys distilled water at Wal-Mart for $0.64 a gallon. That's what we drink (I take a half gallon to work each day) though our fridge has a filter on it help clean up the tap water.

I can tell a HUGE difference between city water and the distilled water we buy (or most bottled water, though not all).
