Default Brand Loyalty

I saw a commercial over the weekend for some brand of toilet paper. They were advertising that, because it was already so great, they changed the name to something more apprppriate. There were absolutely no changes to the product or package except the name change. I said that was stupid and I wouldn't buy the new name product on principle alone. Would you keep buying products even if they changed the name "just because"?

If....
Captain Morgan became Admiral Morgan
Good Housekeeping became Great Housekeeping

You will probably be forced to change eventually as the old stock ran out and was replaced by the "NEW and IMPROVED" version.

In the case of the TP, there are plenty of other options. Same (to a degree) with rum, magazines, and dishwashing soap.

I had a similar question with the new products that offered 25% more, but they never had a product that offered anything less. There must be a single can of that product in the CEO's office that has 25% less just so the rest of them can make that claim
