Freedom of speech exists on s2ki.

You are free to post whatever you want, and you are also free to have your post removed. I'm not going to repost what he posted, as that goes against why it was removed.

It was mysoginstic and offensive. If humor was the intent many did not find it funny. Contrary to popular belief the admins and moderators are s2k enthusiasts that contribute there free time to this website.

The next time you read a status update about "hatefawking a slore" picture your mom, sister, grandmother or wife being the subject of that comment.

Yet the site admins are the bad guy here for enforcing the forum rules that everyone agreed too?
I don't think the site admins are the bad guys. I do wonder why this thread was originally removed when I posted it? That was a pure case of censorship.
I unapproved the topic initially.

1. I am an unrepentant jerk about booting things out of Off Topic Talk. IMHO, this belongs in the Site Info section, not OTT. Don't confuse "censorship" with "administrative expediency."
2. Upon first pass, this appeared to be an open and shut case, as prior action was attached to the ban.
3. Pursuant to my actions, I followed procedure and unapproved the post. That means it is at the Site Mod's discretion to wholly delete it (or keep it). Site Mods put it back in, and I tow that line. Happily.

Nothing to see here. Carry on.

Just want to chime in as there is a lot of "I wasn't offended" remarks and "we are all adults" and I am sure there will be more after this post. You are not the only person on this forum. Just because you were not offended doesn't mean other people weren't. This is a community you choose to be a part of and like any community there are rules to follow. The comments which I am betting only 5% of you saw were beyond poor taste and had they been made in other settings would have resulted in a similar punishment (or possibly worse depending where they were made). As adults we all know there can be consequences to the things we say and while we are free to say them part of that is dealing with the consequences. Try thinking outside of yourself and realize comments like this can drive people away from the forum. It sucks he is gone but he is the one than made the comments (after being warned about about this) and he has to deal with the consequences.
I saw the posts, and I will agree they were a bit off color. However, those comments were not made at anyone in particular and they were in a joking manor. Its disappointing the world has become so soft skinned that a joke about a professional athlete's idiotic display offends people. I'm sure you've all heard the "sticks and stones" phrase; does anybody even try to abide by that anymore? Heck, even that phrase is coined for direct verbal insults. As I said before, I'm not offended by much, but if I am I know where the arrow is at the top of the page. Live and let live, he wasn't actually hurting anyone. He made some trashy jokes, but who hasn't laughed at or made trashy jokes once or twice in their lifetime? Anyone here who says they haven't is lying. I'll say it again, we should put this to a majority vote; let the community decide. We do choose to be a part of this community, so shouldn't be our decision who is a part of it? If someone breaks the rules after being warned, then they should be suspended and the majority should be able to vote on their return. If they break the rules again, then perhaps permanent banning is appropriate. I'm not against the mods of the site, I think you all do a great job keeping this place running; just wanted to voice my opinion on the matter. Hopefully I didn't offend anyone.
Good reply

Authentic clubs generally are democratic, I agree we should have an opportunity to vote for a club/family member, we should also all have some say in the rules/guidelines we practice on this site if it is to remain successful, because without us there is no site. But the problem may lay in the fact that this website is a corporation, not a club per say. As I mentioned in my SU yesterday, we all make up the club outside this forum in our community’s first and foremost. This site is just one outlet where we can communicate on a broader spectrum between our demographics. If a particular outlet doesn’t work for a majority of folks anymore, then it will fall away and some new medium will surface. The trick for a successful large enterprise /corporation is for them to provide the elusion that they aren’t just that, and give more control to management and members to create and uphold the facade of 'family first', small business or club mentality.

When you delete active well known people on this site, it shatters any elusion that this is a family/club.

No harm to people can be done from typing behind a computer screen, but lack of membership can certainly hurt a corporations bank account, I guess for them at the end of the day its a business decision, to weigh out membership lost by potentially offending someone, or membership lost buy deleting those in the cross hairs first. Choose wisely s2ki.com is all I can recommend.

Maybe I missed it, but did someone actually complain or did the mods just agree that whatever was said was the final straw?

I'm not sure what was said that was offensive, but most of his posts are usually pretty funny, to me. Obviously everyone has limits on what is "appropriate" in a public forum, but it had to have been pretty serious to get a ban, even after several warnings. None of the stuff he ever posted was really that serious in tone.

FWIW, none of the Moderators, Site Mods, Admins, or COs here are compensated for our services. Therefore, the threats to not purchase or renew a membership - I find that... offensive. j/k... it's irrelevant though.

Interesting thread. I (recently) joined this site because I want and need information on the S2000 engine, specifically on the various sensors etc that I can delete so that the engine will run smoothly in my 1966 Ford Cortina - do not hold your breath on this swap, I am old and slow!

I have no problem with people posting non car stuff and though the old adage about never discussing politics, sex or religion does come to mind, I understand that people have interests other than cars, hence these threads, sub-forums etc. but I just don't see the need.

That said, fine, to each his own - though I have to say that having glanced at the referenced threads etc what I did find offensive was the poor spelling grammar and syntax.

Now, where shall I go to find out useful information on my task...

PS, I would vote in favour of bringing Rosie back, whoever he/she is if he/she can answer my questions.

This is free advice (worth it), but find BIllman. There's a wealth of s-m-r-t folks over in the Under The Hood section.
