broken english / language issues.?
i am currently working with an auditor who grew up in Chinatown (NYC). She has okay Engrish, but often I have no clue what she is asking.
Is that very frustrating to her? it is frustrating to me. She went to a decent school and works for a pretty good Accounting firm but damn.... almost every time she asks me something.....after she asks 2-3 times trying to swap words around..... I say "I have no idea what you are asking me"
I am sure I would suck if someone dropped me off in Mexico City so I guess I should just be happy that I eventually figure out what she wants.????

I honestly don't know why people who LIVE here PERMANENTLY don't learn our language. I mean, why do we have to put so much time, $, effort into making so many things multilingual? Sometimes its hard as a college student like myself to find a job without being bi-lingual. THIS IS AMERICA! Learn the frackin language or go home.
yeah I think its frustrating for them too... I work at a hotel front desk and although I speak mexican errrr spanish I try not too, I have guests that come in trying to speak english and they cant and you can see the frustration on their face (I laugh a little inside ok a lot). It gets even funnier when they gone forever explaining something only to find out that I do speak spanish.

BUT IF YOU LIVE HERE???? CMON!!!!
Especially if the girl grew up here from childhood. There is absolutely no excuse for her not to speak clear concise and easily understood English. A little accent? Sure, if brought on by her environment. Who doesn't have one?
