why pick on the immigrants?
there are plenty of people born in USA who can't speak English properly.
I'm an immigrant and I can say that my command of English is better than at least 75% of people born here.
I see spelling/grammar mistakes in every single thread.
Like Jackie Chan said in "Rush Hour", let's see how well Chris Tucker speaks Mandarin.
Also, How many American speak more than one language?

I am shocked by the poor level of English from some people on this board ... and everyone uses the excuse that it is just the internet and not important that your grammar or spelling is correct ... but to me that sounds like just an excuse

I don't think she is an immigrant... i think she just grew up in Chinatown.... if she was hot I would be a lot more understanding

We have all kinds of hillbillies here at my work that don't got no good english but I can at least understand what they are trying to say. This girl mixes the wrong words in somehow and I am clueless...

She keeps saying "me love you long time"....

My first supervisor in this position was a native of India. She used excellent grammar and structure but had an accent. When I first started working with her, I had a hard time understanding some of what she said. After a couple months, I was able to understand her completely.

My father in law grew up on the Virginia/West Virginia border and has lived in Massachusetts since the late 1940's. I've known him since 1971 and I still have a hard time understanding much of what he is saying.

I wonder what their reaction would be if they're forced to learn a second language fluently.

I think it's your responsibility to learn their diction of broken language, not the other way around. There is no excuse for growing up in this country, being surrounded by broken engrish, and not being able to understand it fluently.

Gaaaawd you're old.

I agree about it being ridiculous that people can live somewhere and not speak the local language in a clear and understandable manner. The deceiving thing is about accents is that they are associated with intelligence. Talk to a Brit and they gain instant credibility because they "sound" smart.

Talk to a middle-eastern guy saying "Why for you go put that there?" and we instantly assume he's a big oaf. Funny how that is.

I feel bad for the East Indian guys who come over here with extensive indication and the best with can associate them with is "What gas pump # please?"

Your broken engrish leaves much to be desired.
