Default Cable descramblers!

I'm thinking of getting a cable descrambler box. It is legal and all. Do they work? Have you any experience? Right now I'm paying for the most basic cable and it has too few channels; sometimes I don't even get to watch what I want.

Please provide inputs. Thanks!

Why risk it? Pay for play. Some boxes will work, most won't. There's whole teams of well paid engineers that are hired just so descramblers won't work right. They get Popular Science and have Internet access too.

What do you want to pay? If you have SBC for your phone service they have some great deals on low priced DISH network plans.

Legal? Don't bet on it. It's known as theft of service and the cable companies are known to send out electronic bullets to zap these things.

I did the dish thing for a while, and although it was cool having 1000+ channels it simply got old after a while.

Keeping the "H" card updated was just a hassle since you never knew when they were going to blast the current cards. And even though 1000 channels is nice and being able to select from any of the movies is fun for about a month. Sooner or later you realize that there are 1000 channels and nothing on.

I now have the lowest cable package possible and find the internet more than enough entertainment for me

That's the same reason that's prevented me from getting satellite.

There's very little I want to watch in relation to what's available. DVDs and PS2 monopolize my TV time these days.

get a dish, get a box, and spend the extra money to get the box that re-flashes the cards. Then buy a lot of cards and sell them to your friends and charge a reflash fee of $5. My friend did this through college. Needless to say he was raking in money.

I used to do the sat thing as well. My friend sold the systems so he would reflash mines for free and it was still a hassle for me. Its cool for the first couple months then it gets kinda boring. Does the sat thing where you have to get an "H" card still work? I would've thought they cracked down on those by now.
