Me personally I would rather have the openess a T-rex provides and still have the vehicle behave like a car (with a steering wheel) with no lean factor.

The spyder is too much like the t-rex while giving up the "fun-ness" of a motorcycle.

They had these up at the Quaker Steak and Lube restruant near my house two weeks ago and I got to sit on them and monkey around the parking lot. they are very klunky to drive.

Yummy, street ATV! Have you seen the GG Quad, using a BMW boxer engine? That looks like a pile of fun but not cheap enough.

VTEC, you're probably right about groups 1 & 2 but a 400 cc scooter is going to serious kick this thing's @ss on fuel economy, lane splitting, and parking. I just figure the market doesn't support the development costs but we'll see. No doubt is does look cool.

It won't be fast enoug for real squids. I hear this is about equal to a SV 650 for acceleration and doesn't look like it'll wheelie too well.

in fact, i'm kinda surprised that it has not already happened. steet versions of ATVs seems like good city commuter-moblies.
I'm just guessing here, but I'll bet that once you have 4 wheels, you are required to do crash testing, have bumpers etc etc. to be street legal.

I don't see this as an alternative to people looking for a motorcycle. Rather, it's an alternative for people looking for an Ariel Atom but don't want the expense of one or the hassle of getting a kit car registered. (That's predicated, of course, on the assumption that it has proper driving dynamics and will do well on a track or autocross course.)

VW was awfully close to releasing a more car-like 3-wheeler recently but they pulled out. The Piaggio MP3 scooter is a 3-wheeler that leans and there does seem to be a rise in 3-wheel interest.
