Cancellation fee for insurance? I've never paid such a thing and I've switched carriers before.

I am an insurance agent here in NC, and have been for about 3 years. Im not sure about the laws in your state, but here in North Carolina some companies still charge an early termination fee. The kicker is, you don't have to pay it. The company can not take you to court or a collection agency to obtain that charge. As a result of this most companies have given up on charging this fee. How far are you into your contract? Is it 6months or 12months? What company are you switching from? The only other thing I have seen happen, when someone is switching is, they might have to pay for a part of a month that you had insurance, before you switched.
