Default canon powershot a80

does anyone know if this digi cam is any good?

i am in the market for a new camera and really dont know what to look for in a digi cam.

i need something with very good quailty photos and basically it is gonna be a family camera, no professional photography but at the same time i need something a little better than the standard digi-cam.

oh yea what does 4 mega pixles mean?

cannons are great cameras. I have a sony 4.1 megapixel, and i love the pics i get with it. The pricing on cannons is great also, so im sure you can find a good deal somewhere. I have two friends with that camera (one a80, one a70) and both take great pictures!

4 megapixels is relating to the resolution of the pics it takes

It means .... if you print out the picture on a (decent) ink jet printer at 300dpi you will get a picture of size ~8"x6"

Sorry, I don't know much about Canon cameras but if you were interested in a Sony.......
