Car Dealer Sales pitch

Someone gave me that line on a TT. I went to another dealership, bought an S4 and eventually went back to dealership #1. He gave me the slimy wink and said, "I knew you'd be back...."
I said, "Sure, to pick up a trunk mat for my new S4... it's parked right over there."
Did the same to the slimy BMW sales guy pitching the 335. Came back in the RS4. But in that case, I told him point blank that he was an ass.
I'm really slimy-adverse. I'd pay more to be treated like a person rather than a piece of meat. My wife's the same way. So to CrazyCracker... watch it!

i'm just messin around....i've been in it for 4 yrs now and treat women with more respect than the guys
if i don't "sell" the women in the couple then I'm not sellin anything
I guess I don't see the problem here.....
You went to a car dealership to look at a car and got a sales pitch from a sales person..... what's wrong with that?
How many times do you think a sales person has heard "I'm just looking" and then the potential customer actually bought a car? If they never took the time to be a little assertive or persuasive, they would probably miss out on a lot of possible sales.
It's preference. Some people want to be fussed over....some people just want to be left alone. It's the sales persons job to be able to decifer.
JMO.

Best line ever given to me by a sales person. "How about you come back when you can actually afford the car." (this was on a used S2K I was looking at)
The a-hole didn't know that I had $6k cash on me for a down payment.

[Ever notice how every used S2000 was owned by an old guy or a woman? ]
When I bought my used AP1 the Sales Guy told me it was previously owned by a female Honda Engineer who traded it in for an Accord because she wanted more room.
I'm not trying to bag on any one by all means I was just wondering if any had some good stories.
I agree with CrazyCracker. I was not going to buy anything with out the Wifee being there! I know better!
It was just funny the way everything played out because I was just truely wanting to look and the next thing I knew I was sitting in an office with the sales manager and they did not even show me the car they supposedly had in the show room. It was just a tactic to get me in. The Sales manager proceeded to ask me what I was looking for and he said for a $1K deposit he can intercept a car that was going to another dealership that had all the options I wanted. Not once did he offer to show me the car or better yet ask me if I wanted to test drive the car. At that point it was all about a sale. I ended it with I'm not going to commit to anything with out the wife, since it's going to be her car. Of course he comes back with could she come down now?
I guess you can take it both ways. Yes, he was just doing his job but by the time I walked out of there I was very annoyed. I did not even get to see the car, which was the reason I was there in the first place.
I did see a G37 S on the way out though. Sweeeeet car!

LuDawg, your story shows the salesman, is not really a salesman.....he didn't know what to say, other than the get you in the showroom pitch, to then have the main salesmanager try to "qualify" you to get you to do something......that's really dumb IMO.
A true salesman, helps you through the process to lead you to make a decision for your best interests, even though the average salesperson is pretty dumb, which brings up what I already said....since he didn't know what to say he had the manager "try" to do some of the ground work to see where this was going to go

When I go and am just looking I get salespeople all over me...When I've had the cash in hand no one shows up...even when I try the doors on the car that I'm interested in.
One dealer the sales manager knew us (bought 3 cars over 3 years), when we walked on the lot and showed an interest in a car she just threw us the keys and said have fun...Jumped us to the front of a line of people just wanting to test drive. We leased that same day.

When I purchased my s2000 in '01:
"That car doesn't have tilt/telescope steering because the engineers wanted it to be a racecar for the street. If you don't fit, you're not meant to drive this car. It's very special. Only 5000 will be sold"
I walked out and went to the next dealer.
When salesmen feed me crap I usually politely put them in their place. This one was just too bad.
I have no problem with these guys trying to make a living, but please don't feed me a bs line. Treat me like an educated consumer and you'll make a sale.
