Plenty of Americans have legally been going to Cuba for years - you just need the right reason on your visa.

Nothing will change until Castro actually dies, and then we'll see what the current president does to extend a hand or not.

His brother has been "unofficially" running the show since 2006. I wouldnt expect much to change in the near future. After Raul Castro dies you may see some light along the horizon

Can't get worse.

And its easy to get to Cuba, as long as you fly in from Mexico.

I don't think it's a big deal, therefore it is not.

My opinion about it is that the US could step in and solve many of the problems there if they wanted, but would be very hesitant to do so because of the past disapproval by the American (and world, to some extent) population about them overstepping their boundaries.

Oh well. I don't have a problem with the US stepping in anywhere to solve serious issues around the world, almost despite the ulterior motives for gain. Frankly, if the US can step in and help a society stabilize, minimize war crimes, genocide, etc, then they can damn well secure a deal for profit out of it. Think wars and peace-keeping/peace-instituting is cheap? I have no doubt efforts enter the billions of dollars and to recoup some or all of that should be allowed.

Apologies for making this thread even more political than it already was
