Ouch... Hiring an attorney is your best bet
Sounds like the OP found one with a good record in that jurisdiction.

Yeah man I did. He was the President of the DuPage County Bar Association and an "Illinois Super Lawyer." I gotta stand up to this abuse of power. Again, thanks for all the words of encouragement from everyone on the forum.

Best of luck with the attorney, I hear that tends to make things much easier in court.

Not a bad idea. Thanks.

I don't want this to come off wrong, but the fact that you are a well educated minority and there is a tinge of potential racial profiling in this case, my guess is that your lawyer is going to milk that for all its worth in an attempt to gain better results for you. Hopefully the bull s**t that got you in this situation (profiling) will be exactly what gets you out of it.

I'm terrified of getting into situations like this, and like someone else said, it makes me want to buy and set up one of those GPS dash cams ASAP. Good luck OP. Hopefully you'll be cleared and (unfortunately) a few hundred dollars poorer by the end of it.

I would fight it. I faced something like this when I first got my S as well in Virginia.

Rather than bore you with the details, (I'm half-black as well), I was profiled both because of my race and because of my car. I was being forced along by traffic behind me (tailgated) and ended up with the ticket as opposed to anyone else.

Sadly, it may get a bit pricey, but yeah, crucify the corrupt police.

Man don't let anyone tailgate and push you along. I always let them pass me. There's usually more than 1 lane where I live and they could always get around me.

Uhmmm hold on a second here guys.... the op stated that a pilot was doing 90+ miles an hour and the cop pulled off to pursue him but instead tagged the op.... when the op was never doing over 60 ??? Something seem fishy here. How did the op know the cop pulled out and followed the pilot unless the op was keeping pace with said car. And then.. all the op says is im half black and its racial profiling and now the cops the one who should lose his job ?? My take from the op's story is that he was the ine behind the pilot keeping pace with him hoping if a cop showed up hed give chase to lead car as he slowed down and kept on going.... but instead the cop came onto the road from a ramp and pegged him from behind and woop woop did his job. Anyway you look at this we werent there and we dont know the whole story but the op still admitted to doing 60 in a 45... thats still 15 over and thats still guess what against the law. So the ticket you got is the ticket you deserved. And if you want to know why im being likethis... its because you quickly resortex to the stupid race card when lets be honest... he had no idea what race you were until you were already pulled over. And you already admitted to breaking the law by speeding so deal with it plain and simple. And be a man and take your due punishment instead of pulling this race card bs. Iv been pulled over for doing 5mph over the limit... iv been pulled over for a busted tail light that wasnt busted untilthe cop whacked it ... iv been busted for no front plate when i had a front plate zip tied infront... and guess what im white as white as white as white. And at least 2 of those times the cop was black... can i get them on racial profiling since im irish and whiter than powder ?? Cmon man grow up

I totally understand what your saying CoolGuy. It's a messed up situation and I hope that justice is served. Thanks for the support.

You ought to have your license and future driving privileges removed. Driving 90+ in a 45 zone?! You want to kill yourself? Jump off the bridge instead. You're bringing danger to other drivers who you SHARE the road with.
Read the damn thread before you post, or quit trolling.
Read the ENTIRE thread before you post, I'm not the only one who thought OP went admittedly went 92, or quit trolling.

My apologies OP.

Say Chi, can you follow your own advice and read the entire thread before going off all crazy like? Just because more than one person misunderstood the OP doesn't mean the mistake is right, and it doesn't mean you get to go off on the guy telling him to jump off a bridge.

Having witnessed cops pulling over people of color and giving them tickets that I know it was impossible for the person to have been doing, I do believe the racial profiling occurs. And I do believe the cops will lie and inflate a ticket. I also believe that many cops also make "honest" mistakes. I have certainly been driving along minding my own business when another car has come flying up on me and then decided to tailgate me due to the fact that there was only one lane and I was driving slower than the guy behind me. Entrance ramps to freeways are frequently one lane. The OP said he never was going faster than 60mph. If so, then the ticket he should have gotten should have been for 60, not 92. I do believe it's very plausible for a cop to get a 92mph reading on radar legitimately, not be paying close enough attention to the vehicle he got the reading off of, and then by the time he catches up he's faced with a mini-van or a sportscar and he decides chances are the speeder was the sportscar. I don't think that sounds fishy at all. BTW, I *am* Irish and whiter than powder.

OP: A good thing to find out is if the officer's vehicle has a dashcam and if you can get that footage. You are entitled to it. It may be helpful.

OP: I run dashcams in all vehicles I own. Don't wait because you think getting one with GPS is too expensive. You can get less expensive models with multiple camera lenses and point one directly at your speedometer. GPS is nice, but there is a lag and the speeds it records can be challenged in court since bridges and whatnot can interfere with satellite reception. An actual video recording of your speedometer with time stamp synced to a streetview video on your dashcam would actually be better if you find yourself having to argue over a 5mph difference. With a certification of accurately calibrated speedometer, you have a very strong defense. You can get that kind of dashcam for about $60-$75 depending on where you buy it.

Yes, I run exactly that configuration in my S, *and* I have a Blackvue DR500.
