Maybe the differences between your friend and mine are that mine does make an effort of going to bars/clubs to look for girls, and he doesn't sit at home, he's a hard-working network engineer. P.S., I have a friend in the same boat, though he's only 26. He's a paramedic. But damn it, he hasn't had a girlfriend in the 6 years that i've known him. He can't drink (he has the Asian gene, alcohol intolerant and all that, poor guy) so going to bars is pretty much out. It's not like he doesn't try... but man, I think his conversational skills with girls are lacking. I can totally see him in the situation kumainu presents in ten years, maybe less. It's like a catch 22... maybe not the lack of sex, but the lack of ego-boost that that sort of companionship gives you... he's weird, so he doesn't get sex. He doesn't get sex, so he becomes more and more confused, lonely, depressed, desperate, etc.

Yeah, I think this is also an effect. He's lonely and since he's 36, his biological clock is ticking faster and faster for a marriage. I think he'll be okay though, once he goes to Europe or Asia to find a wife.
