I have to admit, I did the same thing -- I got an aluminum S2K knob for my Civic Si for a year before I got the S2K. Not because I wanted people to think I had 6 gears but because I loved the shift knob and I needed something to tide me over on the long wait til the magical land of VTEC. However, I did get lots of comments about whether my car had 6 gears or not lol.... sigh

Isn't the Type-R knob basically the same as the S2000's but with 5 gears? Maybe you should try that one.
