I'm a contractor, and the company I work 'with' just gave out gifts today.. I almost LOLd when I saw what it was.. a wireless thermometer
My boss will give out bonus stubs on Friday, but the $$ will be deposited tonight. It's never much though. I did however, get two raises since mid October so I can't complain

In the late 90s while working for a credit card company, they were making money like it grew on trees. We always got a lavish company picnic in the summer (they had Cirque du Soleil one year, for example) and an equally lavish Christmas party. Open bar for each. 10% to 20% bonuses for the regular workers. These past few years though, after having been bought by another company - no bonuses, no parties, not even a small raise. In fact, all I got was laid off and a severance package.

When I think about it, I'm not happy. I don't like how it's always 100% my responsibility to increase my income directly with new accounts and personal successes, and there isn't recognition of loyalty or past hits that I'd taken to join a 1 room, 4 person company that is now opening its 4th office and has grown tremendously in terms of employees. Also, we were in the Top 20 most profitable companies in the country this year. Where's my $$???
