I used to have a Keurig Machine and since I'm not really a coffee snob (aside from hating Starbucks) we actually used to use the little k-cups twice and got decent coffee out of em both times. the second cup would be slightly milder than the first but I really didn't care to be doubling my mileage and cutting the cost in half.

Those little k-cups were damn expensive! I might pick up another one of those machines at some point as it was super easy to stick a k-cup in, place a mug on it and hit go. Fill up the water jug on it once every day or two and that's it.

they know how to make there money.
they have this attachment you can put in the k-cup slot that basically lets you put your own grounded beans into. $20 effing bucks.
bought it, used it once. then returned it.

Somebody needs to come up with a device that lets you pack your own canisters at a fraction of the cost. A $30 machine that you pour grounds into, load a little cartridge and boom, done, sealed homebrand k-cup.

That would be kind of cool actually, you'd have people making their own blends and mixes.

My sister has a machine w/ a timer & grinder built in. Put in the whole beans, put water into the machine, set the timer. Timer goes off in the morning, beans get ground (so they don't lose freshness), and the brew cycle starts.

I've never used it, but it seems nifty. Then your coffee is ready when you roll out of bed.
We had one of those. In theory it sounds great. In reality, the steam from the brewing coffee turns the grounds in the grinder into a nasty paste that is a pain to clean. Espresso pods, ftw.

there are SO many brands and flavors of K-Cups.
i honestly doubt youve tried them all..
i've tried probably close to a dozen flavors... we get a variety in the office.

haven't liked any of them enough to say 'mm this is good coffee.'

don't take this personally, i'm just saying i don't like them... and i don't consider them 'great' coffee... easy and convenient, hell yes. takes all of 30 seconds to get a cup of coffee

i think there are a lot of coffee lovers in here... i start my morning with an Americano and definitely prefer a good bean that is brewed correctly...

Although a lot of other in this thread i think are bigger cream and caffeine lovers... and if you use a lot of creme i don't think the quality of the coffee matters as much so instant of a fast brew is probably the right solution...

I think for the OP to make the right decision or get the right suggestions we would have to know what he prefers...

I never understood the real coffee fiends and their critiques of coffee being bitter, bland, burnt, etc until I switched from Triple Cream, Triple Sugar 4 or 5 years ago.

Now the subtle flavors and charateristics are brutally apparent. Sadly there is a Starbucks in the lobby of my office. Oh yeah, I switched jobs to a new company yesterday so no more working at home and no more homebrew coffee.

Keep in mind your benchmark is instant coffee. I find my cheap drip machine and (expensive) Dunkin' Grounds are better than McDonalds coffee...and that's a lot coming from me.
+1 I agree 100%.
Now that I have a little mini me runnning around, I set the Mr.Coffee timer with me DnD Original Blend @ 0600 and I'm ready to go. Make sure you peel back the breather flap before putting it in the fridge.

Tim Horton's is better Find one and try it some time!
In time all the DnDs will disappear and TimmyHo's will take over.
